MEALS ON WHEELS POSITION ON STRUCTURAL RACISM

RESPONDING TO THE CORONAVIRUS

Since MOWOCNC deals directly with a vulnerable population, we have taken the important step of changing how we provide our service. Our goal is to do all we can to keep our recipients and volunteers safe, while ensuring that those who are food insecure and vulnerable still have access to food and check-ins.

We are now delivering five frozen meals and a bag of fresh fruit once per week to limit contact between volunteers and between volunteers and recipients. We are also running a volunteer phone brigade, reaching out to recipients every other weekday to check on their health and well-being and access to food beyond meals delivered by Meals on Wheels. If you would like to support us in our efforts to maintain our food delivery service during the pandemic, click here to make a donation to MOWOCNC. Please write "for COVID-19 response" in the "Acknowledge" section.

Going forward, we will continue to stay abreast of guidance and updates from the US Centers for Disease Control, World Health Organization, and local public health agencies.

Our mailing address and contact information are:

We cannot thank the community at Binkley Baptist Church enough for providing CHCMOW's home for more than 40 years. Over that time CHCMOW grew from serving under 50 recipients to 300+ per year. Growth meant expanded staff, more volunteers, and the need for more space than Binkley could provide. We are grateful for Binkley’s generosity and hospitality. Leaving has been very hard!
