Current Volunteer Opportunities

Set Up/Operations

Volunteers stage, sort, and load all goods by routes, ensuring route drivers are equipped with all the necessary items for delivery.

  • Southern Orange County (632 Laurel Hill Road, Chapel Hill)

    • Monday – Friday from 9:15 am – 10:45 am

  • Northern Orange County (113 West Hill Ave. South, Hillsborough)

    • Monday through Thursdays from 9:00-10:45AM

  • Receive and sort meals + meal accompaniments by route.

  • Review personalized recipient requests and meal counts by route.

  • Distribute meals to volunteer delivery drivers.

Meal Delivery Drivers

Volunteers deliver meals and goods, greeting and engaging with each client either in the home or at the door. 

  • Southern Orange County (632 Laurel Hill Road, Chapel Hill)

    • Drivers (at least 18 years old) needed Monday – Friday from 10:30 am to 12:15 pm

  • Northern Orange County (113 West Hill Ave. South, Hillsborough)

    • Drivers (at least 18 years old) needed Mondays through Thursdays from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm

  • Pick up meals from MOW office.

  • Deliver meals to recipients using your own vehicle.

  • Initiate contact and conversation with recipients for friendly check-in.

  • Return binder, delivery bags, and leftover meals to MOW office.

Substitute Delivery Drivers

Volunteers fill-in when scheduled drivers are unavailable. 

  • Deliver meals as needed when regular delivery drivers are not available.

  • Please do not sign up unless you have delivered for our program in the past. Training is required.

Bakers

Bakers make individually packaged delicious desserts to compliment the meal and bring joy to our clients. 

  • Whip up a batch of your favorite recipe at home. Sugar-free desserts are needed as well.

  • Individually wrap each dessert.

  • Drop off the desserts to our office. Chapel Hill Office (9AM-12:30 PM M-F). Hillsborough (9AM-12:30PM M-TH). To be used same day, desserts must be delivered by 9:45AM. If delivered after that time, desserts will be distributed the following day.

Shelf-Stable Food and Supply Bags

Volunteers donate food items or full bags to help stock the pantries of MOWOCNC clients who need additional food support. 

  • Collect items and assemble Shelf-Stable Food and Supply Bags.

  • Completed bags and supplies can be delivered to the MOWOCNC office In southern Orange County (632 Laurel Hill Road, Chapel Hill) between 9am-12:30pm M-F. 

Kibble and Care (volunteer positions currently full)

Volunteers help sort, package and/or deliver pet food and supplies to support our clients' beloved companions. 

  • Help develop and implement a pet care program for recipients.

  • Outreach to partners, vendors and sponsors.

  • Pick-up, sort, label products for distribution.

  • Deliver pet food and/or supplies monthly.

  • Plan and implement annual community event to raise funds and support program.

Administrative Office Help

  • Write/sign Holiday and Birthday Cards for volunteers/recipients

Ambassadors

  • Promote MOWOCNC at local Farmer’s Markets/Community Outreach Programs, your neighborhood association, local place of worship, or in other community venues. 

Group Volunteer Opportunities

  • Deliver meals with your office, youth group, and/or social group to our clients as a one-time event coupled with our regular drivers.

  • Get trained and become part of a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or quarterly rotation.
