Supporting Recipients and Their Pets

In 2022, we launched MOWOCNC Loves Pets! to help older adults care for their companion animals. Today, the program is called Kibble & Care, and we’ve delivered over 7,830 pounds of pet food and supplies so far! In the last two years, we’ve provided free or discounted veterinary care for 20 pets.
Pets bring comfort, joy, and companionship to our recipients’ lives. By helping them care for their animals, we reduce stress, ease the cost of pet care, and ensure meals meant for recipients aren’t shared with their pets.
We’re grateful to our local partners — Paws4Ever (a nonprofit), Feeders in Chapel Hill, and Paws at the Corner in Hillsborough — for supporting this program with pet food and supplies. DEGA Mobile Veterinary Care and Kindred Heart Animal Hospital — for providing free or discounted pet wellness care.
